A Great Comfort

Love…
… Love is a sense that comes without doubt and question; a simple, but certain knowing. There is graceful comfort in knowing there is true love in your heart for me.

Contemporary Italian writer C. Joybell C.
We have to allow ourselves to be loved
by the people who really love us,
the people who really matter.
Too much of the time,
we are blinded by our own pursuits
of people to love us,
people that don’t even matter,
while all… the people who do love us
have to stand on the sidewalk
and watch us beg in the streets!
It’s time to put an end to this.
It’s time for us to let ourselves be loved.

What Nourishes Our Existence

Love…
IS! That says what I feel clearer than any quantity of words can.

Brazilian lyricist and novelist Pablo Coelho
Regardless of whether we love
once,
twice,
or
a dozen times
in our life,
we always face a brand-new situation.
Love can send us to hell or paradise,
but it always takes us somewhere.
We simply have to accept it,
because it is what nourishes our existence…

Still We Are

Love…
…is a spark in my heart from knowing someone cares about me as I really am. You know of the light of my goodness and of the darkness of my wickedness yet gladly, still we “are”.

From “Divan-e Shams” by Rumi translated R. A. Nicholson
Through Love
all that is bitter will be sweet.
Through Love
all that is copper will be gold.
Through Love
all dregs will turn to purest wine.
Through Love
all pain will turn to medicine.
Through Love
the dead will all become alive.
Through Love the
king will turn into a slave!

Inside and Out

Love…
…can be denied, but not hidden from one’s self. Nor can it be made to exist by admission when it is not at home within someone. I have been guilty of denial before and admitting what was not wholly true, but for you my love is real both inside and out.

Author, poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau
Love
must
be
as
much
a light,
as
it is
a flame.

A Hundred Other Things

Love…
…is a voice that gives comfort; the touch of a hand that encourages; eye contact that speaks without words and a hundred other things you do that tell me you care.

American poet and author Oliver Wendell Holmes
The
sound
of a kiss
is not
so loud
as that
of a cannon,
but
its echo lasts
a great deal longer.

A Heart Quietly Inflamed

Love…
…brings hope into one’s heart that is rooted in uncertainty and bound by possibility. The fire in love’s risk dampened by understanding sculpts a heart quietly inflamed.

Taken from “Love Plain and Simple” by Nicole
I get butterflies,
every time,
You look at me,
touch me,
talk to me.
Big cheesy smiles across my face,
You fill that empty place,
Deep in my heart,
Where it has been lonely
for such a long while…

My World Wasn’t Much

Love…
…when chased, runs; when pushed away, departs; when ignored, vanishes. But when embraced, lives; when held close, grows; when acknowledged, shows itself.

Taken from a poem found on-line – “Gratitude” by ‘xJessibel’
My world wasn’t much,
Not at least till you came along.
Your kind words lifted me up,
You taught me to always be strong.
I can’t promise it will be easy,
I can promise it will be long.
But together… we can make it.
Together we can keep strong.

Beyond My Control

Love…
…does not always shout its presence or create a swirl of passion. Some of its best moments are quietly satisfying. There is no greater comfort than being your ordinary self with someone you love.

Saying by a writer unknown
Meeting you
was fate;
becoming
your friend
was a choice,
but falling
in love
with you
was beyond
my control.

A Lastingly Memorable Moment

Love…
…carves memories from the usual and commonplace by making the mundane into remarkable and the ordinary into exceptional. Something as common as sharing fortune cookie messages becomes a lastingly memorable moment we’ve shared.

“Thoughts on Love” by James Browning
A loud and deafening roar
hidden in silence;
A brilliant flash of light
concealed in darkness;
A complicated language
too mysterious for words;
A flavor mystifying
and secreted beyond taste;
A touch so delicate
and tender it cannot be felt;
Love is known only
by a sensing of the heart.

A Smile in My Heart

Love…
… is free. It cannot be bought, sold, or traded. No person can make someone love them, nor can they prevent it. Love strikes like lightning, unpredictable and certain. It comes, or not, of its own will and in its own timing.

By American Poet Sheri Daugherty
Here, I am again
sitting alone
daydreaming
about you…
with dreams
that leave
a smile
in my heart.
