Love, True Love

Love…
…that fills the heart leaves no room for question. Uncertainty is a construct of the mind. True love doesn’t leave space for doubt. A filled heart laughs in ridicule when questioned.

From a letter by Victor Hugo in 1821 to Adele Foucher
a_heart_full_of_roses_by_fuchsphotoEDITWhen two souls,
which have sought each other for,
however long in the throng,
have finally found each other…
a union, fiery and pure
as they themselves are…
begins on earth
and continues forever in heaven.
This union is love, true love…
a religion, which deifies the loved one,
whose life comes
from devotion and passion,
and for which the greatest sacrifices
are the sweetest delights.
This is the love
which you inspire in me…

Must Have Some Thorns

Love…
…has ups and downs. If it doesn’t and is always the same then what is present is not love. Within difficulty it is the strength of the shared good times that makes love more durable and flexible.

with love

but a life
empty
of love
will have
no roses.

King and Queen of All Emotions

Love…
… has no envy of other emotions. It is King and Queen of all feelings. Hate has no chance to survive in its presence. Selfishness melts away. Love is pure truth invisible; absolute power unseen.

Calm and Peaceful Adoration

Love…
…expressed in the simple touch of a hand; eyes connecting with mutual smiles soon after; a well of enjoyable conversation that seems to have no bottom. Affection, friendship and respect stirred together in a recipe of calm and peaceful adoration.

Love Feels No Burden

Love…
… by itself, is never a burden. To think of it as an encumbrance is possible only when stirred with human failings such as doubt, insecurity, suspicion or deceit. Requited or not: lost or found; lasting or impermanent, love is always for the good.

15th Century Dutch writer Thomas à Kempis
Love is eternalLove feels no burden,
regards not labors,
strives toward more
than it attains,
argues not
of impossibility,
since it believes that it may
and can do all things.
Therefore it avails
for all things, and fulfils
and accomplishes much
where one not a lover falls
and lies helpless.

Delightful Madness

Love…
…brings a most beautiful insanity. Knowing all Earthbound loved ones are eventually lost to us here, or us to them, but loving anyway is delightful madness. Knowing fully this form of ‘crazy’ is life’s most valuable gift.

Embers Radiate Warm Long After

Love…
…is rarely loud, forceful or boastful. Such things are only ego, fear or insecurity. Healthy love is gentle, quiet and tender, sometimes only to be noticed if one pauses and looks closely. Raging fires burn out quickly; soft embers radiate warm long after.

To Be Loved So Much

Love…
…sparkled all around when last I saw you. The smile on your face was one of real happiness. Even the way you walked spoke love softly for anyone paying attention. I was. It is humbling to be loved so much.

The Resolve of Two Willing Souls

Love…
…makes my spirits soar with delight when I think of its possibilities. Two hearts become the most magical human creation when they become fused together by the resolve of two willing souls. Once so, they can never be fully separated again.

From “The Alchemist” by Paul Coelho

You Feel Like Home

Love…
…shows its depth long after the initial nervousness and tentative passion of love’s beginning. It is what remains when the season takes away the easy blossoms and obvious greenery. The roots that survive on the coldest of days is where love finds its greatest power.

Taken from an untitled poem by an author unknown
old couple walking awayYou feel like home to me;
With your knowing smile,
You can put me at ease.
You feel like home to me;
A safe and peaceful place,
Where I can relax and be free.
You feel like home to me;
The warm and gentle comfort,
Of all familiar things.
