He Made Me Love Him

Love…
…can sneak up slowly and be a surprise. We’ve known each other a long time. We’ve become close friends. Being together is so comfortable and easy. I don’t want to mess that up, but am falling in love with you. Should I tell you?

From “Jane Eyre” by English poet and novelist Charlotte Bronte
victorian loveI had not intended
to love him;
the reader knows
I had wrought hard
to extirpate from my soul
the germs of love
there detected; and now,
at the first renewed
view of him,
they spontaneously
revived,
great and strong!
He made me
love him
without looking
at me.

Hold Dear Every Morsel

Love…
…is not easy, most often lasting for too short of a time. That makes it no less meaningful. There is no failure. Every bit of love felt and received matters. Hold dear every morsel for the precious gift it is.

American poet and blogger Coco J. Ginger
272 EDITI say this to you now:
I love you, with no beginning,
no end. I love you as you have
become an extra necessary
organ in my body.
I love you as only a girl
could love a boy.
Without fear.
Without expectations.
Wanting nothing in return,
except that you allow me
to keep you here in my heart,
that I may always know your strength,
your eyes, and your spirit
that gave me freedom and let me fly.

Like Day and Night

Love…
…is pain. Love is joy. Hearts that have known the greatest joy can best bear the deepest pain. Hearts that have known the greatest pain are best able to know the heights of joy.

From ” Mend My Broken Heart” by Jacelyn Soriano
SasuNaru____Day_And_Night_by_fezakyuuEDITWe cannot love a person
with an all accepting,
transcending and encompassing
love without being hurt somewhat,
without being disappointed,
without being failed
of our expectations.
We cannot love
without being broken,
yet we cannot continue
in love without
being stronger
than our brokenness.

Must Have Some Thorns

Love…
…has ups and downs. If it doesn’t and is always the same then what is present is not love. Within difficulty it is the strength of the shared good times that makes love more durable and flexible.

Beautiful quote by an unidentified writer
red-rose-thornA life
filled
with love
must have
some thorns;
but a life
empty
of love
will have
no roses.

Hearts Soar With Delight

Love…
…amplifies everything! Good times become better. Heartbreak becomes worse. Happiness becomes more joyful. Abandonment becomes utter grief. When those in love are irresponsible, hearts crash in misery. But when loved ones behave with wisdom, hearts soar with delight.

Adapted from a thought written by an author unknown
Every time
I miss you,
a star falls.
So if you ever
look up at the sky
and the stars
are gone,
it’s because
I miss you
too much!

Only Way To Love

Love…
…is a simple complication. Or is it complicatedly simple? If complicated means “difficult to analyze or understand” and simple means “unassuming, unpretentious and sincere”, the love we share is both at the same time.

From “Thirst” by Pulitzer Prize winning poet Mary Oliver
..from the complications
of loving you
I think there
is no end
or return;
no answer,
no coming
out of it;
which is the
only way to love,
isn’t it?

Once Given, Never Forgotten

Love…
…is one of the strongest things on Earth; it is also one of the most fragile. It lives within a living paradox of lasting and fleeting possibility; overwhelmingly common and exceedingly rare at the same time.

Poet, musician and songwriter John Lennon
Love
is a promise,
love
is a souvenir,
once given,
never forgotten,
never let
it disappear.

A Beautiful Paradox of Opposites

Love…
…makes no sense. It is illogical, uncertain, tentative, hard and often sorrowful. Love makes sense. It is logical, certain, sure, easy and happy. Love is a beautiful paradox of opposites.

“I Know Not” by James Browning
Is it her smile or the curl of her hair?
I really can’t tell yet, I’m still unaware.
Why like iron to magnet am I pulled her way?
I have no logic about that which I can display.
It is tenderness of her hand’s gentle touch?
That answer I wish I knew so very much.
Why like an angel does she appear to me?
I know sure its true, yet no proof do I see.
Is it her kiss or body next to mine in a hug?
That certain answer is only known high above.
Why is she near yet so distant and far away?
Only guesses I offer, No answer can I say.
Is she going to be with me never or soon?
At near Noon or at night under a bright moon?
Is she running away from me, never to return?
I know not except for her I yearn and yearn.

A Fixation of the Heart

Love…
…is a fixation of the heart I’ve never understood. I’ve chased it and run away from it. Anxiety has kept it away and trust has brought it close. Desire has given it fire and fear has smothered it. Even in all its confusing ways, I am grateful to be sharing love with you.

“Love” by James Browning
Love:
Amuses and confuses;
Bemuses and misuses;
Enthuses and refuses;
Fuses and bruises;
Chooses and loses;
Excuses and accuses…
All these things and more
Comes with love’s adore.

Like Yen and Yang

Love…
…is constantly varying and filled with ‘ups’ contrasted with ‘downs’. The high times strengthen for the low times. The good times train the heart and the difficult ones teach the mind. In balance like yen and yang, love has its best chance of survival.

British novelist and poet Anne Bronte
He who
dares not
grasp the
thorn
Should never
crave
the rose.
