The Fifth Fundemental Power

Love…
… is an eternal component of nature; a force strong like Earth, Air, Fire, and Water and sometimes stronger than all four classical elements combined. Love is the fifth fundamental power on which everything is based.

From “Guitar Highway Rose” by New Zealander Brigid Lowry
five elements 02…they do not kiss
but they both want to
instead their feet touch
and so do their arms
it is electric magic
their tiny arm hairs tingling
happily lying together
the sun warming them
watching sky through
green-leafed gum branch
close enough to hear
each other breathe
sweet togetherness
this lazy lying down
dance of love.

Neither Created Nor Destroyed.

Love…
…lasts. It endures. It simply is. Like all energy, that of the heart can be neither created nor destroyed. With its wonder and beauty, love can only morph, grow or change form.

“Ebb Tide” by American poet Brian Burke
light-through-clouds-2You’re the gentle breeze
that soothes my heart
And through my soul
your ripples pour.
Within my mind
the storm
clouds part
As you ebb
upon my
body’s shore.

Forever

Love…
…in its richest form is rare. If it touches you, decades later its mark will be felt even if long ago you lost the one in your heart. True love really does last forever.

young-loveForever in me,
you will be.
Forever my love,
sent from above.
Forever in my life,
you are mine.
Forever in my eyes,
you will always shine.
Forever my star,
seen from afar.
Forever my soul,
you make me whole.
You are the one,
I will love, forever.

Must Have Some Thorns

Love…
…has ups and downs. If it doesn’t and is always the same then what is present is not love. Within difficulty it is the strength of the shared good times that makes love more durable and flexible.

Beautiful quote by an unidentified writer
red-rose-thornA life
filled
with love
must have
some thorns;
but a life
empty
of love
will have
no roses.

Shadows of Another Day

Love…
…once known, lives always. Time may reduce the space someone loved in the past holds in the heart, but they are always there. Whether the learning from each one was what to do or not do, all of love’s experiences form the knowledge of how you know to love.

Taken from a poem called “Perfect Strangers” by Deep Purple
old love lettersCan you remember my name
As I flow through your life,
A thousand oceans I have flown;
And cold spirits of ice;
I am the echo of your past.
I am returning the echo
of a point in time
Distant faces shine,
A thousand warriors I have known;
And laughing as the spirits appear;
Shadows of another day.

King and Queen of All Emotions

Love…
… has no envy of other emotions. It is King and Queen of all feelings. Hate has no chance to survive in its presence. Selfishness melts away. Love is pure truth invisible; absolute power unseen.

Irish writer and poet Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde

Delightful Madness

Love…
…brings a most beautiful insanity. Knowing all Earthbound loved ones are eventually lost to us here, or us to them, but loving anyway is delightful madness. Knowing fully this form of ‘crazy’ is life’s most valuable gift.

Extravagant and Bold

Love…
… of youth is extravagant and bold with feelings fresh and new. Both captivating and confusing is the arrival of first love: a beautiful paradox.

From Young Love by American lyrical poet Sara Teasdale
name in the sandI wrote his name along the beach,
I love the letters so.
Far up it seemed and out of reach,
For still the tide was low.
But oh, the sea came creeping up,
And washed the name away,
And on the sand where it had been
A bit of sea-grass lay.
A bit of sea-grass on the sand,
Dropped from a mermaid’s hair —
Ah, had she come to kiss his name
And leave a token there?

Lives In Perpetuity

Love…
…is proof of eternity; it confounds all notions of time; effaces all memory of beginning, all fear of an end. Loving well is the highest achievement of human existence and lives in perpetuity.

my heart,

as you.

you still beat

The Resolve of Two Willing Souls

Love…
…makes my spirits soar with delight when I think of its possibilities. Two hearts become the most magical human creation when they become fused together by the resolve of two willing souls. Once so, they can never be fully separated again.

From “The Alchemist” by Paul Coelho

there’s no need
at all to understand
what’s happening,
because everything
happens within you.
