Treasures All

Love…
… lives within every little thing in the treasure box where I store memories of loving you. One box became two and now it takes three to hold all those riches. Parting with any of it would be letting go of the tangible history of our love.

“Keepsakes of Love” by James Browning
Bit’s and pieces
Covered with lines & creases:
Concert ticket stubs
and cards and notes.
Parking passes
and dinner receipts.
Programs from plays
and a vacation motel key.
Used movie tickets
and hand written notes.
These many things & more
are the odds & ends of love;
treasures all.

Expressed Plainly

Love…
…expressed plainly is an afternoon road trip down Route 66 with no time restraint or particular place to go. It amazes me how we can comfortably talk for hours and hours yet not run out of things to converse about.

Saying taken from an old Swedish proverb
Shared
joy
is a
double
joy;
shared
sorrow
is
half a
sorrow.

Majesty of the Day

Love is…
…more varied than the weather; often sunny, but sometimes stormy; frequently warm but sometimes cold; regularly pleasant but sometimes uncomfortable; repeatedly inviting but sometimes repelling. Never are two days of love ever exactly the same.

Irish novelist and short story writer Elizabeth Bowen
When you
love
someone,
all your
saved-up
wishes
start
coming
out.

When I Really Need It

Love…
…means I will listen when you want to be heard; I will try to understand when you wish to be understood; I will hug you when you need to feel safe; I will hold your hand when you lose your way; and I will tell you how much you matter when you doubt your worth.

An old traditional Swedish Proverb
Love me
when I
least
deserve it,
because
that’s
when
I really
need it.

One Created Out of Two

Love…
…brings easy sensing of what one’s beloved feels. Happiness spills, sadness trickles, joy drips and grief drops from one person to the other as the border of separated emotions is no longer clear when “one” out of “two” is created.

Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer Kahlil Gibran
Love one another,
but make not
a bond of love:
Let it rather be
a moving sea
between the shores
of your souls.

A Smile in My Heart

Love…
… is free. It cannot be bought, sold, or traded. No person can make someone love them, nor can they prevent it. Love strikes like lightning, unpredictable and certain. It comes, or not, of its own will and in its own timing.

By American Poet Sheri Daugherty
Here, I am again
sitting alone
daydreaming
about you…
with dreams
that leave
a smile
in my heart.

So Many Things

Love…
…is an eagerly awaited sight of you when we’ve been apart a day or two. It’s the anticipation of a hug when it is delayed by where we are or who we are with. It’s the relaxed and unhurried temporary goodbyes we say.

Taken from “Breathless” by “Rod” from Ontario, Canada
The way
you laugh,
And the way
you cry,
It fills me up
so deep inside.
The way you smile,
The way you care,
It fills me
up everywhere.
