A Hole in the World

I remember…
…how cute you looked when you would take a nap snuggled up with Mr. Bear.  I miss sweet moments like that with you.

Edna St. Vincent Millay, Pulitzer Prize Winner for Poetry, (1892 –1950)
Where you used to be,
There is a hole in the world,
Which I find myself
constantly walking around
in the daytime,
And falling in at night.
I miss you like hell.

Wonderful Tonight

I remember…
…watching you get dressed before we would go out and thinking how beautiful you are.

From the song “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton
I feel wonderful
Because I see
the love light
in your eyes.
And the wonder
of it all
Is that you just don’t realize
How much I love you.

Trying to Let You Go

I remember…
…so much and am reminded every day of you by something I come across, by noticing a place we went or a song on the radio.  I’m trying to let you go, but so far I can’t.

From the John Waite song “Missing you”
Every time I think of you
I always catch my breath.
And I’m still standing here
And you’re miles away
And I’m wondering why you left.

In Front of the Fireplace

I remember…
…lying on blankets in front of the fireplace with logs burning brightly while we snuggled and enjoyed being close.

From the novel “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy
He felt now
that he was not
simply close to her,
but that he did not know
where he ended
and she began.

I Love the Way…

I remember…
…going out into the countryside on what we called “camera safari’s” and taking photos together.  You became a very good photographer.

By on-line poet Crystal Jansen
I love the way you look at me,
Your eyes so bright and blue.
I love the way you kiss me,
Your lips so soft and smooth.
I love the way you make me so happy,
And the ways you show you care.
I love the way you say,” I love you”,
And the way you’re always there.
I love the way you touch me,
Always sending chills down my spine.
I love that you are with me,
And glad that you are mine

Never Doubt I Love You

I remember…
…rubbing and massaging your neck and shoulder when your old injury would flare up.  I was always sorry you were hurting but enjoyed touching and taking care of you.

From Hamlet by William Shakespeare

Doubt thou the stars are fire,

Doubt that the sun doth move

Doubt truth to be a liar

But never doubt I love you.

To Have Loved and Lost

I remember…
…how you always spoke up for me when I was too shy or uncomfortable to. You have more strength and courage than you give yourself credit for.

From “In Memoriam” by Sir Alfred Lord Tennyson
I hold it true,
whate’er befall,
I feel it when
I sorrow most;
‘Tis better to have loved and lost,
Than never to have loved at all.

Thank You for Loving Me

I remember…
… how consistently you reminded me to wear my seatbelt until wearing it became my habit.  Later that habit saved my life in a bad car accident.

I love you not only for what you are,
but for what I am when I am with you.
I love you not only
for what you have made of yourself,
but for what you are making of me.
I love you for the part of me that you bring out.

Now That I Love You

I remember…
… how the contour of each cheek of your cute little bottom was a perfect fit for my hand.

Written under the pseudonym “Baby Girl”
When I met you
I was scared to talk to you.
When I talked to you
I was scared to kiss you.
When I kissed you
I was scared to hold you.
When I held you
I was scared to love you.
Now that I love you
I’m scared to loose you.
